Gelegen in Perthshire behoort Strathearn tot de kleinste traditionele distilleerderijen van Schotland.<br><br>De distilleerderij ontstond tijdens de opkomst van de moderne craft-distilleerderijen en werd in 2019 overgenomen door Douglas Laing. De productie is nog altijd bewust kleinschalig. Niet de hoeveelheid staat centraal, maar het maken van een karaktervolle spirit met veel textuur, romigheid en moutigheid. Een bijzonder detail is het gebruik van Maris Otter-gemoute gerst. Deze gerstsoort is vooral bekend uit de bierwereld, maar geeft Strathearn een romige, moutige new make met veel body en een herkenbare, volle structuur die inmiddels kenmerkend is voor de distilleerderij.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/03-4-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3819\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/03-4-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/03-4-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/03-4-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/03-4-1229x1536.jpg 1229w, https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/03-4-600x750.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/03-4.jpg 1638w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voor Batch 03 selecteerde Douglas Laing slechts 31 vaten. Daarbij werd whisky samengebracht die zowel v\u00f3\u00f3r als na de overname werd gedistilleerd. Daarmee verbindt deze botteling twee hoofdstukken uit de jonge geschiedenis van Strathearn. De rijping vond plaats op een combinatie van ex-bourbon-, virgin oak- en ex-sherryvaten. Hoewel deze combinatie ook bij eerdere batches werd gebruikt, krijgt het sherryhout deze keer een veel grotere rol. Dat levert extra lagen op van donkere honing, verwarmende specerijen, chocolade en cacao, zonder dat het romige, moutige karakter waar Strathearn om bekendstaat verloren gaat. Volgens de offici\u00eble proefnotities opent de whisky met aroma\u2019s van geroosterde mout, gerstesuiker, donkere honing en warme kruiden. In de smaak volgen romige moutcake, chocolade en zachte toffee, waarna een lange, verwarmende afdronk achterblijft met tonen van eikenhout, cacao en een subtiele hint van zacht leer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1072\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 720 \/ 1072;\" width=\"720\" controls src=\"https:\/\/www.thedutchwhiskyassociation.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/lfGTzxbO.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strathearn Batch 03<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky<br>Samengesteld uit 31 geselecteerde vaten<br>Gerijpt op ex-bourbon-, virgin oak- en ex-sherryvaten<br>50% ABV<br>Natuurlijke kleur<br>Non-chill filtered<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zonder leeftijdsaanduiding (NAS) Met Batch 03 laat Strathearn opnieuw zien hoe de huisstijl zich stap voor stap ontwikkelt. De elegante Highland-basis blijft herkenbaar, maar krijgt dit keer meer diepgang, warmte en een duidelijk rijkere sherry-invloed.
