Living Souls komt met een nieuwe release line-up die meteen de aandacht trekt. Niet alleen door de kleurrijke en herkenbare stijl van de flessen, maar vooral door de variatie in distilleerderijen, leeftijden en cask types. Deze nieuwe serie brengt verschillende kanten van Scotch whisky samen: kustrook, sherryzoetheid, rodewijninvloed, bourbon cask fruitigheid, single grain zachtheid en oude blended whisky met serieus veel rijping achter zich. De collectie bestaat uit 8 nieuwe bottelingen, waaronder twee Bowmore releases, een Laphroaig, een Ardnamurchan, een Craigellachie, een Tullibardine, een North British single grain en Batch #4 van een 41 jaar oude blended Scotch whisky. Wat opvalt, is dat Living Souls elke whisky niet alleen presenteert als een technische botteling, maar ook als een sfeer. Elke fles krijgt een eigen moment mee. Van een winderige kustlijn met zeezout en rook, tot een zonnig Italiaans caf\u00e9 met gebak en gekarameliseerde zoetheid. Alle bottelingen zijn natural colour en non-chill filtered. Precies zoals veel whisky liefhebbers het graag zien: zonder opsmuk in de fles, maar met veel karakter in het glas. Voor mij voelt deze release als een collectie die gemaakt is om te ontdekken. Niet \u00e9\u00e9n stijl, niet \u00e9\u00e9n richting, maar een kleine reis door Scotch whisky. Van Islay smoke tot Speyside richness, van Highland fruit tot oude blend elegance. En eerlijk? Die 22 jaar oude Bowmore en de 41 jaar oude blend maken mij wel heel nieuwsgierig.
