Kustachtige turfrook, zeelucht, ziltigheid en die licht wilde maritieme rand waardoor de whisky bijna voelt alsof hij rechtstreeks verbonden is met de rotsen, het weer en het water eromheen.
Maar Castaway neemt die eilandrook mee naar warmere oorden. Deze limited edition heeft gerijpt in Caribbean rum en Mexicaanse tequila vaten, waardoor Ledaig\u2019s klassieke peated stijl samenkomt met exotische zoetheid, agave karakter en een helderdere tropische toets.
De offici\u00eble tasting notes noemen in de neus coastal peat smoke, gekarameliseerde banaan, limoenrasp, vanille, groene appel, witte peper en een hint van sea spray. Op het palet gaat het richting stevige rokerige kruiden, gegrilde ananas, ziltigheid, kruidige agave, zwarte peper, geblakerde citrus en rijke toffee. De afdronk wordt omschreven als lang en verwarmend, met smeulende turfrook, demerara zoetheid, chili warmte en een laatste twist van limoen.
Die combinatie van maritieme turf, rumzoetheid en tequila cask influence voelt als een echte smaakomweg.
Nog steeds Ledaig, maar dan met een zongebruind paspoort in de jaszak.
Ledaig Castaway Isle of Mull single malt Scotch whisky Limited edition 61.1% ABV Rum & Tequila cask maturation Smoky, spicy and vibrant. Ik heb deze zelf nog niet geproefd, dus dit is geen review. Maar als whiskyverhaal trok hij meteen mijn aandacht.
Rook, zee, rum, tequila en Mull in \u00e9\u00e9n fles? Dat is toch een behoorlijk goede gespreksstarter.
