Deze 31 jaar oude Strathclyde single grain Scotch whisky van The Wealth Spirit x Milroy\u2019s of Soho laat eigenlijk perfect zien waarom. Vintage 1994. 41.1% ABV. Cask #455316. Slechts 158 flessen uitgebracht. En ja\u2026 ook het label verdient even aandacht. Die fazant. Het bamboe. De zachte kleuren en bloemen. En eerlijk\u2026 flessen zoals deze maken single grain whisky steeds moeilijker om te negeren. Dit is mijn tweede grain release van The Wealth Spirit x Milroy\u2019s. Zelfde distilleerderij als de 44.4% die ik eerder deelde, maar een ander vat, een ander alcoholpercentage en vooral een compleet andere sfeer in het glas. En juist d\u00e1t maakt whisky zo leuk. Geen grote marketingshow. Geen onnodige drukte. Nose<\/strong>:
Meteen zacht tropisch fruit. Ananas, banaan, vanille en honing, met daaronder een lichte droge toets die alles mooi in balans houdt.
Palate<\/strong>:
Romig en rond. Honing, vanille, lichte granen en een klein vleugje citrusschil. Ontspannen, elegant en gevaarlijk makkelijk drinkbaar.
Finish<\/strong>:
Banaan, zachte witte peper en butterscotch met een rustige zoetheid die langzaam blijft hangen.
Sommige whisky\u2019s vragen om aandacht. Deze verdient het juist op een stille manier. Oudere grain whisky kan echt prachtig zijn wanneer het goed behandeld wordt, en releases zoals deze herinneren me eraan waarom single grain Scotch veel meer aandacht verdient dan het meestal krijgt. Hoe meer ik zie van The Wealth Spirit, hoe nieuwsgieriger ik word.
