<\/figure>Vier vaten, vier invloeden\u2026 en dat merk je meteen. Dit is niet zo\u2019n lichte, makkelijke Ierse whiskey die gewoon voorbij glijdt. Deze trekt je eerst naar binnen\u2026 en laat daarna steeds meer karakter zien. Hij opent zich stap voor stap. Beetje bij beetje. Zelfs het label vertelt je wat je kunt verwachten. Het anker houdt het geaard, de vogel vindt altijd zijn weg terug, en het touw met de knoop brengt alles samen. Het is niet alleen design\u2026 het past echt bij de whiskey. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Neus<\/strong>: Wat ik hier vooral sterk vind, is de balans. Zoet in de neus, meer kruidigheid en diepte in de smaak, en een afdronk die alles weer samenbrengt. Hij wordt nooit zwaar\u2026 maar ook nooit saai. Een zeer toegankelijke Ierse whiskey, met genoeg lagen om interessant te blijven. Eerste indruk? Nostalgie. Het bracht me meteen naar een ouderwetse snoepwinkel. Zoet, speels\u2026 vanille, gesuikerde appels, perendrops, met een lichte tropische hint op de achtergrond. Niets zwaars, niets ingewikkelds\u2026 gewoon heel uitnodigend. Zo\u2019n neus waar je vanzelf steeds naar teruggaat.
Smaak<\/strong>:
En dan verandert het. De kruidigheid komt als eerste binnen en geeft wat grip en structuur. Niet agressief, maar genoeg om hem wakker te schudden. Daarna komt het fruit terug, maar dieper. Rijpe appel en peer die overgaan in pure chocolade en rijkere tonen. Daaronder zit een moutige, biscuitachtige laag die voor body zorgt, terwijl een subtiele kruidige\/herbale noot voorkomt dat het te zoet wordt. Hij blijft zich ontwikkelen zonder te forceren.
Afdronk<\/strong>:
Middel-lang, soepel en mooi in balans. De zoetheid vervaagt langzaam en maakt plaats voor mout, espresso, pure chocolade en zachte kruiden. Een hint van rozijn blijft hangen op de achtergrond, licht stroperig, als een stille herinnering aan die Madeira- en stoutvaten.
