In het historische Schotse stadje Falkland, Fife \u2013 een plek met whiskyroutes die teruggaan tot enkele van de vroegste schriftelijke vermeldingen \u2013 besloten twee vrienden, Nigel Heywood en Keith Rennie, hun decennialange passie voor het selecteren van bijzondere vaten om te zetten in iets bijzonders: Saltire Rare Malt.
Elke fles draagt trots de Schotse vlag (de saltire) en staat garant voor zeldzame, met zorg geselecteerde single malts: altijd minimaal 14 jaar oud, 48,8% ABV of hoger, natuurlijk van kleur en niet koud gefilterd.
En hier komt het bijzondere: voordat ook maar \u00e9\u00e9n vat wordt gebotteld, moet het eerst worden geproefd \u00e9n goedgekeurd door Hans en Becky Offringa \u2013 internationaal bekend als The Whisky Couple.
Hans, net als ik een Nederlander, en Becky, zijn in Amerika geboren echtgenote, zijn wereldwijd gerespecteerde whiskyauteurs, juryleden en educators. Als zij hun goedkeuring geven, weet je zeker dat het de moeite waard is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neus<\/strong>:
Fris en uitnodigend, met sappige witte en groene appels die zoet en zuur in balans brengen. Subtiele notige tonen mengen zich met heldere citroenschil, gouden honing en delicate bloesem voor een verfijnde elegantie.
Smaak<\/strong>:
Levendig en expressief, startend met frisse citrus en romige vanillecake. Lagen van sinaasappelschil, graan en tropische passievrucht geven diepte, terwijl een zijdezachte, olieachtige textuur het gehemelte prachtig omhult.
Afdronk<\/strong>:
Middellang, met een aanhoudend fris en fruitig karakter.
