Een ingetogen maar indrukwekkende reis in een glas<\/strong>
Locatie: Meinerswijk, Arnhem (maar met het karakter van de Isle of Skye)
Niet iedere reis begint met een vliegticket. Soms volstaat het openen van een fles.
Voor deze tasting bevond ik mij fysiek in Meinerswijk, Arnhem \u2014 maar bij het openen van de Torabhaig Sound of Sleat werd ik zintuiglijk meegenomen naar de ruige kustlijnen van de Isle of Skye.
De naam verwijst naar het smalle zeegebied dat zich uitstrekt langs de distilleerderij, en die maritieme invloed is onmiskenbaar aanwezig in deze expressie.

Neus<\/strong>: Zachte rook van een uitgedoofde kampvuur, zilte lucht, citruszest en een vleugje zoet \u2014 reminiscenties van popcorn en toffee-appel.
Smaak<\/strong>: Vol en hartig van karakter, met een wasachtige textuur en ziltige ondertonen. Tonen van geroosterd eikenhout, gegrild fruit, peper en een subtiele hint van honingachtige citrus. De turf is duidelijk aanwezig, maar op elegante wijze ge\u00efntegreerd.
Afdronk<\/strong>: Droge as, maritieme frisheid en een aanhoudende rooklaag die niet overheerst, maar juist uitnodigt tot nog een slok.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Conclusie<\/strong>
Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is geen krachtige turfexplosie, maar eerder een verfijnde interpretatie van een coastal peated whisky. Gelaagd, gebalanceerd en vol karakter. Het is een expressie die rust en diepgang biedt \u2014 whisky die niet schreeuwt, maar fluistert.
