Mizunara, een schaars Japans eikenhout, wordt zelden gebruikt voor whisky vanwege de hoge kosten en de uitdagingen bij het vervaardigen en rijpen. Het hout heeft de neiging om te draaien tijdens de groei, wat problemen kan veroorzaken bij het maken van de duigen, en door de poreuze structuur kunnen de vaten lekken. Mizunara, wat in het Engels vertaalt naar \u2018water eik\u2019, heeft een laag tanninegehalte maar bevat veel vanilleachtige smaken. De vaten geven vaak zoete kruidige tonen, sandelhout en geroosterd eiken mee aan de whisky. Deze unieke expressie is de eerste in de nieuwe Masters of Wood-serie van GlenAllachie, een super-premium lijn binnen de Wood Collection, gereserveerd voor hun meest luxueuze en experimentele houtafwerkingen. Met de slogan \u201cWhisky in Good Hands\u201d en de lancering van de Masters of Wood-serie versterkt The GlenAllachie zijn reputatie als expert in vatrijping binnen de Schotse whiskywereld.
